My favourite
sport is basketball. Two times a week I go out to the sports ground near my
house to play basketball together with other guys.
We really
like to play this sport. Very often our team wins the team of the neighboring
yard. Even if we lose, we are not upset, but we improve our skills in this
game. Also we visit the basketball section two times a week. There we learn
from the coach to play even better and improve our skills. Our coach explains
the rules of the game well, that’s why everything is easy for us.
Basketball is
an excellent game. Do more sports and you will be healthy!

Види спорту в англійській: назви та їх історія виникнення
Пропонуємо відразу почати вивчення назв видів спорту англійською. У нашому списку ми подамо назви, а також їх переклад.
Спортивні змагання на англійській мові з м'ячем.
Багато видів спорту, де задіяний м'яч, завжди в англійській мові мають закінчення "ball" - м'яч. Наприклад:
- «football» - футбол: «нога» + «м'яч»;
- «basketball» - баскетбол: «кошик» + «м'яч»;
- «baseball» - бейсбол: «база» + «м'яч»;
- «volleyball» - волейбол: «удар на льоту» + «м'яч».
Варто відзначити, що в американському варіанті англійської мови слово «football» має на увазі американський футбол. Американський футбол відрізняється тим, що грають в нього не ногами з м'ячем, як в Англії, а передають одне одному овальний м'яч, штовхаючись. Напевно, ви бачили це видовище в зарубіжних серіалах про підлітків. В Англії американський футбол будуть називати «American football».
Існують ще види спорту, для яких в грі необхідна присутність м'яча:
ü «hockey» - хокей;
ü «badminton» - бадмінтон;
ü «tennis» - теніс.
«Водні» види спорту та ігри на англійській мові.
Річки, озера і басейни - чудові місця для занять спортом! До речі, під час плавання, як і під час їзди на велосипеді, задіюються всі м'язи тіла. Чому б не спробувати якісь ігри на воді? А, може, варто вибрати вид спорту, що пов'язаний з водою? Пропонуємо вам для навчання спортивні ігри англійською та види спорту, назви необхідно вивчити:
- «swimming» - плавання;
- «rowing» - веслування;
- «diving» - дайвінг;

- «water polo» - водне поло;

Легкоатлетичні види спорту в англійській мові.
Ці види спорту вимагають витривалості, але формують гнучкість, поставу і сильний м'язовий корсет:
- «artistic gymnastics» - спортивна гімнастика;
- «rhythmic gymnastics» - художня гімнастика;
- «running» - біг; (СЛОВА ВИВЧИТИ)
- «pole vault» - стрибки з жердиною;
- «race walking» - спортивна ходьба;
- «long jumping» - стрибки в довжину.
Спортивні змагання в англійській мові, для яких необхідні певні пристосування.
Деякі назви спортивних ігор на англійській мові мають на увазі наявність предмета, без якого неможливо буде здійснити ряд необхідних дій. Наприклад, їзда на велосипеді без велосипеда неможлива, як і неможливий скейтінг без скейта. Наприклад:
- «skiing» - лижне катання;
- «cycling» - катання на велосипеді;
- «skating» - катання на ковзанах;
- «luge» - катання на санках;
- «skate boarding» - катання на скейті.
Використання дієслів «play», «do», «go»
Дієслова «play», «do», «go» - невід'ємні частинки, які використовуються в англійській мові, коли починають говорити про спорт. Давайте розглянемо більш детально кожне дієслово і наведемо приклади його використання.
Дієслово «Play».
Це слово перекладається на російську як «Грати». Використовувати його в англійській мові потрібно в контексті командної спортивної гри, розслабленої домашньої гри (наприклад, шахи або шашки), гри з м'ячем. Наводимо приклад:
- Can you play tennis? - Ти вмієш грати в теніс?
- Do you like to play football? - Ти любиш грати в футбол?
Дієслово «Do».
Якщо командні спортивні ігри англійською не обійдуться без дієслова «play», то для індивідуальних видів спорту вживається дієслово «do». До речі, в бойових мистецтвах теж використовується дієслово «do». Наприклад:
- I do rhythmic gymnastics. - Я займаюся художньою гімнастикою;
- I do karate. - Я займаюся карате.
Дієслово «Go».
Це дієслово використовується в тому випадку, якщо мова йде про види спорту в англійській мові, назви яких закінчуються на «ing». Наприклад:
- I go swimming. - Я ходжу на плавання.
Рух - це життя! А регулярні заняття спортом - це довголіття, чудове самопочуття і міцне здоров'я. Знайдіть час і місце для занять, знайдіть в собі сили, незважаючи на повсякденні обов'язки, почніть регулярно робити нескладні фізичні вправи. Ну і, звичайно ж, вивчіть назви видів спорту на англійській мові. І тоді, потрапивши в англомовне коло спілкування, будьте впевнені, що станете не просто пересічним співрозмовником, а особистістю з глибокими інтересами і знаннями!

Summer Olympics 2016
The 2016 Olympics or the Gamesof the XXXI Olympiad was held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil from Friday 5th August to Sunday 21st August 2016. This was the first time the event has been held in South America. As Brazil was in the southern Hemisphere, the Games was actually taking place in the countrie’s winter!
There were about 10,500 athletes competing, from 206 different countries and territories. South Sudan and Kosovo was competingfor the first time.
There were 306 events over 28 sports. Seven of these sports had a range of discipleners. Rugby Sevens was included for the first time. Golf returned after a 112 year absence. It was last played at the Olympics in 1904.
7,5 million tickets were sold to watch the events. The opening and closing ceremonies were held in Rio’s Maracana Stadium.
